WMR Plans Expanded NF Metals Recycling Facility in Salt Lake City

Western Metals Recycling, the largest full service metals recycler in the Intermountain West, plans to expand our nonferrous metal recycling facility in Salt Lake City.  The expansion will include a new 24,000 square foot covered recycling facility.  This customer-friendly drive through facility will keep our customers out of the elements.  WMR expects the expanded facility located at 4201 West 700 South to be open by May 2012.  During construction, the existing nonferrous metal recycling facility at 4221West 700 South will remain open next door. Our current recycling facility spans 8 acres, and the newly designed facility will offer an additional 13 acres for customers to recycle any nonferrous scrap metal.   WMR plans to add as many as 10 more employees to help streamline the recycling process so that customers can get in, weigh their scrap using the latest scales, unload, and get cash for their scrap quickly. WMR’s Salt Lake City recycling center buys ferrous scrap as well as common household nonferrous scrap metal items like aluminum cans and other aluminum, stainless steel, copper and brass products. Customers are paid on site for their scrap.  According to Dennis Schofield, WMR Salt Lake City Plant Manager, “We will make it fast, friendly and simple to drop off any nonferrous scrap, and get paid for metal recycled at our environmentally sound facility.  One of our goals is to make it easy to recycle, so the recycling facility is not intimidating for anyone.  This is a great way for community members to make money, while helping to preserve and protect the environment.” This expansion demonstrates one more step toward helping Nucor...
