Award of Merit for Safety

The Utah Safety Council awarded Western Metals Recycling with the 2009 Award of Merit for its achievement in workplace safety performance. Each year the Utah Safety Council honors member companies and individuals for outstanding efforts and activities in the area of safety.

To be considered for the Award of Merit, an organization's incidence rate must be lower than the national average for the industry, the organization must demonstrate continuous safety performance improvement or sustained levels of excellence, and it must have essential elements of a safety program in place. The benchmark for comparison consists of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics within respective Standard Industrial Classification codes. Western Metals Recycling has always been committed to creating a work environment safe from industrial and environmental hazards for our employees and customers. At WMR, environmental responsibility and safety are top priorities.

Accepting this Award of Merit on behalf of the employees of Western Metals Recycling were Mike Rush, WMR Vice President of Finance (left) and Rick Coon, WMR Safety Manager (right) , pictured with Robert F. Parenti with the Utah Safety Council. This is the fifth award for WMR in the past six years!
