PROFILE
WMR is a wholly owned venture of Cincinnati-based The David J. Joseph Company
(DJJ), one of the world's largest brokers and processors of scrap metals.
Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Western Metals Recycling was formed in 1996 by
combining Atlas Steel facilities in Salt Lake City, Ogden and Provo with DJJ's
scrap processing plants in Plymouth and Denver. In 2000, WMR acquired Markovitz
and Fox's - Sparks, Nevada (Reno) facility, and 2011, opened a metal recycling
plant in Albuquerque.
Three of WMR's processing plants focus on automobile shredding,
utilizing a combination of time-tested and innovative new processes to extract the maximum value from ferrous
and non-ferrous scrap metal. WMR strives to explore new ways to improve
recyclable recoveries while minimizing our impact on the environment. In an
effort to minimize what is sent to landfills, WMR installed an upgraded
downstream sorting system in Plymouth. Our ferrous processing capabilities include baling, shearing, and accurately sorting ferrous and nonferrous metals. Our processing reputation
is built on time-tested alliances and business relationships.
All of the WMR plants are environmentally sound and comply fully with EPA regulations.
We also assist the public and private
sectors with ecologically sound, economically productive recycling of metals recovered from municipal solid waste.
